To maintain your sofa and to help it look its best for a long time we recommend the following care.
GENERAL SOFA CARE:
We recommend avoiding direct sunlight, heaters and air conditioners to prevent fading, build up of moisture and scorching. Cut any loose threads off the sofa, do not pull them.
Both seat and back cushions should be rotated and plumped up regularly. This will extend the life of your fabric and foam. Foams will relax and soften over time, comfort wrinkles and creases will occur naturally over time as your sofa adjusts to normal use.
Your sofa should be lifted and not dragged, this will overcome legs breaking or damaging floors. It is not advisable to sit on the armrest, back or consoles as these are not designed to bear weight.
You can choose to remove the plastic sofa corner protectors from you lounge. If you do so please use pliers and remove them carefully so as to not damage your covering.
A weekly vacuum of you sofa is recommended to prevent dust and dirt buildup. Any spills should be blotted up from the fabric. Do not use soaps, detergents or abrasives as they may cause a loss of colour or damage to the fabric. We recommend a Discount Lounge Centre endorsed product be used together with a soft white cloth to prevent any dye transfers. For tough stains a qualified cleaning company is recommended to advise you on the best treatment. We recommend that your lounge is cleaned yearly by a professional qualified cleaning company.
To protect your fabric, it is advisable that a fabric protection is applied before delivery by our experts. This will ensure that your sofa will look good for many years to come. Only fabric protection endorsed by Discount Lounge Centre may be applied to our fabrics. Please talk to your Discount Lounge Centre sales consultant for more information.
Leather is a natural material that is very durable but must be maintained with the Discount Lounge Centre endorsed leather care products. Being a natural material variations in dye lots, scars, insect bites and natural grain variation are to be expected and enhances the character of your suite.
Leather will stretch and soften over time and wrinkles and creases will occur naturally on your sofa.
We recommend that you use an endorsed leather conditioner/protector when you first receive your new lounge. This helps to maintain the top coat of the leather and stops dust and body oils breaking down the protective finish of your leather. It is advisable every 3-6 months to then use a cleaner on your suite and then re-apply the protective coat after that has dried. Pay particular attention to areas that receive a lot of skin contact especially the headrest and armrest areas. This way your leather always has a protective coating and will last you for many years to come. Do not use soaps, detergents or abrasives as they may cause a loss of colour and damage to your leather. Leather wipes are highly recommended for a weekly dust as well.
